Summer goshawk

3 July  12:30 P.M.  Downtown Anacortes
1 male NG flapping with no problem in 20 mile per hour wind. Elevation of hawk 150 feet.This hawk was not a Dennis Paulson's Northern goshawk. Dennis Paulson's Northern goshawk can be observed in this area rarely and only in winter.

  1. Hello Nelson. Thanks for stopping by at http://wildfidalgo.blogspot.com. A few years back a Northern Goshawk hung out in my yard for about 2 hours during a windstorm. I guessed he found a good spot to take shelter from the wind. He perched on a stump and preened and looked around. I think he was aware I was watching him through the window, but he didn't seem to care. It was one of those truly great PNW wildlife experiences.
